Introduction

58.JPG (1987203 bytes)The Oaklands Centre is a residential outdoor adventure education centre providing activity based personal development, environmental, leadership and skills courses to a range of clients including schools, youth groups, scouts & guides, teachers & youth leaders, families, outdoor professionals & management teams.

Originally a Victorian house Oaklands has been extended and refurbished to provide all the amenities expected of a modern Outdoor Education Centre. It stands in a large area of woodland on the edge of the Snowdonia National Park, North Wales.  Its location in the Conwy Valley provides easy access to the mountains, lakes, rivers and sea.  The centre is run by the Metropolitan Borough of Wirral but is open to bookings from outside the authority.

Facilities

The Centre has been designed to accommodate 3 residential activity groups (within the 44 bed house), and several additional groups using our day visits shower block. We have enough equipment to allow each groups maximum flexibility on activates.

The centre has its own indoor climbing wall, and a pond suitable for raft building sessions.

Within the grounds we also have a number of problem solving exercises.  We are surrounded by mixed woodland which offers a range of orienteering courses close to the centre. As well as the infamous Dingle..
