Introduction
The
Oaklands Centre is a residential outdoor adventure education centre providing
activity based personal development, environmental, leadership and skills
courses to a range of clients including
schools,
youth groups, scouts & guides, teachers & youth leaders, families,
outdoor professionals & management teams.
Originally a Victorian house Oaklands has been extended and refurbished to provide all the amenities
expected of a modern Outdoor Education Centre. It stands in a large area
of woodland on the edge of the Snowdonia National Park, North Wales.
Its location
in
the Conwy Valley provides easy access to the mountains, lakes, rivers and
sea. The centre is run by the Metropolitan Borough of Wirral but is open
to bookings from outside the authority.

Accommodation

Bunk bed accommodation is in comfortably
furnished and heated rooms which sleep between two and eight
people

Some
en-suite dormitories, predominantly for staff use

Traditional
dormitories for students, each with a sink

We have an effective drying room, hot
showers and a rest room with facilities for making hot drinks &
snacks

Our modern chalet style annex creates an area for group work and meetings

Menus are always varied and our cooks cater for vegetarian and other dietary requirements

Self catering or hotel accommodation can also be arranged
Facilities
The Centre has been designed to accommodate 3 residential activity
groups (within the 44 bed house), and several additional groups using our
day visits shower block. We have enough equipment to allow each groups
maximum flexibility on activates.
The centre has its own indoor climbing wall, and a pond suitable for
raft building sessions.
Within the grounds we also have a number of
problem solving exercises. We are surrounded by mixed woodland which
offers a range of orienteering courses close to the centre. As well as the
