Best bits of your course

canoeing was one of the best courses – fun of thrills and new skills.

The gauge walk was absolutely excellent ! Jumping in the freezing, breathtaking water- which sent a trill up your spine. Succeeding to work as a team, everyone working together, solving problems together.

Most challenging bits…

I thought that rock climbing and abseiling were very challenging. You needed to listen to all the rules to keep you and your team safe. I think the rock climbing was the hardest because you had to get a good grip on the slippery rocks. Sometimes there seemed to be nowhere to hold on to.

Walking up the slimy, slippery rocks and climbing out of the canoes when the waves were rough.

Trusting every one in your team – even those you usually don’t play with.

What did you learn about yourself?

I learned to conquer my fears and  now ,I’m confident at nearly all of the activities we did on the course. I will now neve be afraid of having a go even if I am unsure. That I should let people go before me and that I should help my friend if they find something is too hard. You need to encourage each other to just do that bit extra. We learnt that we need to have trust in others and be determined yourself, That I can believe in myself and have a go at everything. Don’t give up before you have had a go.

What did you learn about others (your team mates)

I have learned that my team mates are very trusting and they are very helpful. You need to co-operate with each other if you are to succeed. That you need to listen to the rules and take note of other people’s needs in an  activity if you are to work as a team. I learnt that instead of not trusting them I could rely on them. I needed them and they needed me. I had to trust my team mates. I had to listen to the leader and follow what they did with care.

What did you learn about the environment?

I learned about looking after nature. Look after it and it will be there for everyone to enjoy.

That the amazing mines that were ther for over 150 years old and the wonderful streams that the water cycle ha screated. I also learned that canoeing is all about forces of pull and push. I learnt about fascinating mines that were there for over 200 years and about the oak tree and how it was used to build ships that could stop cannon balls

I learnt that nature shoud be a part of your life and it refreshes you in your life if you treat it with respect. We need to look after our environment so it will be there for many years to come.
