Blue Group...

Your Group:

We are the Flapjacks – Bailey, Dan, Ashlea, Holly B, Tom, Megan W, Katie, Jess, Lauren, Chloe F, April

Best bits of your course

Katie – Rock climbing because it was challenging  and I wont do it again soon.

April – The mines because we found out a lot about the old mines and we could visit the places we found out about.

Jess – Rock climbing because you were pushed to do it

Lauren – I like the gorge walking because it was different – you could have fun !

Megan  - Gorge walking because you had to work hard to find all the places to put your feet.

Ashlea – Gorge Walking because it fun but cold.

Tom – Climbing up the waterfall in the gorge. Miss Langdon helped me climb up the rope.

Holly – Rock climbing because it was fun when we did the potty position.

Bailey – The mines because you got to be an explore and zip wire across a huge lake which was very deep.

Dan – Rock climbing because I got to the top

Most challenging bits…

Megan – going across the lake on the zip wire

Lauren – realising there were no toilets in the mines.

Katie – doing things you didn’t want to do but realising you had to.

Chloe – walking up the hills

Jess – wanting a break but having to push on.

Holly – The mine because on the zip wire it was hard to pull yourself up.

April – not slipping over

Ashlea – rock climbing because I didn’t know how to climb.

Tom – climbing was hard

Bailey – rock climbing was hard because I didn’t really want to do it even though Gethin encouraged me to it.

Dan – the zip in the mine because it was scary.

What did you learn about yourself?

I could do things I didn’t want to do!

I can do everything if I try

I can be independent and not depend on others all the time.

To care for other people if you need help

What did you learn about others (your team mates)

If you need help someone will help you

I could empathise more with Ashlea and Tom -  how hard it is listening to instructions.

All my friends help me climb

What did you learn about the environment?

In the mines if you dropped litter it would be there forever.

If you leave windows open and lights on it would attract bats and moths.

Keep rubbish in bibs away from animals where it can be a hazard.

Best bits of your course

The highlight was seeing Mrs Lee being jolted from the front of the canoe, head first into the cold lake!

Sliding in the rapids in the gorge.

Having Mr Hughes join us for a day.

Achieving what you’ve never achieved before, such as climbing to the top of the rock.

Having oppoprtunities we don’t have at school.

Jumping off the canoes.

Meeting in the group rooms.

Making up the Oaklands song.

Having a water fight!

Staying with friends overnight.

Feeling excited as we set off for the day’s adventures.

Most challenging bits…

The canoeing which hurt my arms.

Moving out of your comfort zone.

Going through the gorge.

Balancing on the canoe.

Going on the zip wire.

Abseiling down the cliff.

Climbing up the cliff.

Jumping into the deep lake from the canoe.

Being wet in the mini bus, feeling horrible.

Blowing out the candles in the mine.

Trying to swim with buoyancy aids.

What did you learn about yourself?

That I can be bossy at times.

I’m always up for going first on challenges.

I can do adventurous activities I never thought I could do.

What did you learn about others (your team mates)

We can work with people whom we don’t usually work with.

That each of us has a special talent.

We discovered that we had let each other speak and that every idea is worth listening to.

By working as a team we could accomplish tasks we never we could.

What did you learn about the environment?

There is more countryside around Oaklands, than around Townfield.

The surroundings were quieter.

There were less cars and houses.

There were mountains, waterfalls, streams and lakes.

You can use the environment for different activities than at school.
