The Oaklands Centre is committed to environmentally friendly actions in all aspects of its work in outdoor education as detailed in our action plan.

Building our Willow Arch (Ysgol Dyffryn Conwy)

We aim to:

  • Gain Eco Centre status (click here for more information)

  • Help our users to gain greater understanding of the environment

  • Reduce reuse and recycle our waste

  • Learn from and educate students, visiting staff, partnership organisations and the local community in environmental issues

  • Reduce our water usage

  • Comply with environmental legislation and approve codes of practice.   We will co-operate fully and maintain open relations with all regulatory authorities

  • Review the environmental impact of our services, products, policies and operations with a view to reducing and controlling environmental impact where practical.  The environmental committee will address the use of energy, raw materials, water waste and transport

  • Work with suppliers and contractors to contribute to meeting the environmental aims of the Centre

  • Care for and protect the outdoor environment both in our grounds and during activities

  •  Include all our users in environmentally friendly actions
